Early start on June 30th (well early for me!) proved fruitful. Nets A, D and E all opened by 0530hrs!
Net E is the new 40ft in the recently cut net lane at the edge of the dunes and appeared to be caught nothing but the wind for the first couple of hours. It somewhat redeemed itself with two new Blackbirds and the first 'speckly' Robin of the year, Net D, in the sycamore caught nothing all morning! So all the rest came from the feeding station at Net A. 11 Chaffinches, 5 Great Tit, 2 Blue Tits, 2 Greenfinches, two Wrens, a Goldcrest and a heavily moulting Coal Tit.
I filled the Funnel Trap with an assortment of bread and sausage from yesterdays BBQ and managed to entice a Magpie and a Blackbird! So 28 new birds and only a single re-trap, definitely worth the effort!
